Masbate City Water Supply

Maselco/MMWD ano na???

I sincerely hope that the ongoing issues with electricity and water supply here in masbate will be addressed as soon as possible. These basic services are essential to the daily lives of every resident, affecting households, businesses, schools, healthcare facilities, and overall economic activity. Prolonged interruptions and unreliable service create inconvenience, disrupt productivity, and place additional burdens on the community. It is my hope that the concerned agencies and authorities will work together to implement effective and sustainable solutions, ensuring a stable, reliable, and accessible supply of electricity and water for all.

Masbate Water: Until When?

This has been a long-standing problem in Masbate, yet it remains unresolved. Every day, many households receive water that appears yellowish, cloudy, and visibly different from what should be considered clean and safe. The question is simple: Is this water even safe to drink? If not, is it at least safe for brushing teeth, washing dishes, or bathing? Beyond the unpleasant appearance, the public deserves answers. What exactly is causing the discoloration? Is it aging pipelines, inadequate water treatment, contamination of the water source, or something else entirely? Why has this issue persisted for years without a clear and lasting solution? The concern becomes even more urgent in light of the increasing cases of typhoid fever being reported. Typhoid is commonly transmitted through contaminated food and water. While investigations are needed to determine the exact sources of infection, it is difficult for residents not to question whether poor water quality may be contributing to the problem. There are also potential health implications beyond typhoid. Prolonged exposure to contaminated water may increase the risk of skin conditions such as dermatitis, folliculitis, bacterial skin infections, and fungal infections, particularly among children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems. The people of Masbate are not asking for luxury. We are asking for something fundamental: safe, clean, and reliable water. We call on the concerned authorities to conduct transparent water quality testing, publicly release the results, identify the root cause of the problem, and implement long-term solutions. Access to safe water is not a privilege—it is a basic right. Many administrations have come and gone, yet this concern persists. We remain hopeful that the current administration will give this matter the attention it deserves and work toward a lasting solution for the people of Masbate.
